Robert Graves was exceedingly perturbed that David's father, David Cocks Q C, my pupil master, in a position of great trust, power and wealth was declining to show any humanity to his son or acknowledgement of his great parental responsibility towards him which was his duty not only to deliver through all his childhood but through all his life, putting his own interests and hearts desires first. He determined to show no interest and disclaim humanity towards this person who was genetically affiliated with the closest genetic bondage that nature can provide and morally the closest in human obligation.
This child was to know eventually how his father wanted him not to be as a definitive letter came which if the boy had not had tremendous courage would have torn his heart out. Without Sir Derek Spencer Q C and  Sir Nicholas Wilson Q C who taught mother and child that in the sea of uncertainty where the father demonstrated with his wealth and power "I am the superior one"  the foundation of universal truth and generous courage ,for no reason but kindness and humanity, could expunge the terror and isolation the father laid as a trap to expunge his paternal responsibilities. His symbol of the origins of his power were to make his son's position to the waters of oblivion and the waters of Lethe. David Cocks 'ambition was to consign mother and child to oblivion Ameles potamos, the river of unmindfulness, be subject to forgetfulness and oblivion and concealment .His family members of the bar were positively reinforced for identifying this Greek spirit, some wrote letters, expunging aletheia(ἀλήθεια), creating the mythology that the child wasn't his and had no importance as a human being with human rights of family and humanity and to be hidden from elite company in which the father ranged secure.
Through  these and other marvellous people mother and child learned that betrayal by a father could be outshone by the humanity of saints. Tyranny is breed within a person and clings to their moral apparatus and is a glue which renders a loss of greatness. The mother and child were put in a dangerous position by a man of great influence who created a child and abandoned the child after a years affair, creating a hideous circle of parental neglect so the mother had to fight alone with the help  of  Sir Derek Spencer Q C and  Sir Nicholas Wilson Q C, but their truth shone in the darkness he tried to plunge his child into. As with the hideous attitudes of the Irish laundries where the fathers would abandon mothers and children while they carried on drinking and hunting and finding new partners causing the gorge of history to rise in shame, he created the falsehood he would see his son but he ofcourse never after the promise to the court approached his son and offered him affection time and love just a curse of distain through a third party and an endorsement of any discreditable echoes.
What father would not try to save his son ,would overlook his welfare and his own finer moral duty, abandoning his human rights dispensing an underlying tragedy interwoven with a determination not to give affection and understanding to a person a child he has created a child bonded genetically closer than any other. What father would abandon a new-born child and signal a long chain of exclusion of rights and justice taking no ready responsibility living a  world where he hopes his son does not live or if lives poorly "a collapsed life "as he once disdainfully wrongly alleged. Being furious that other important people cared that the boy went to private school trying to laboriously  stop that not realising that the mother loved her child like a lion more because he the father was cruel and disdainful and full of self important power wealth and privileged.
